Table Stories – Sheffield (2020)
Created 2020
Back to participationThank you so much for working with us and our young people, it is so important to provide the young people with an opportunity to have fun and forget about the troubles of the world. Nicola Hough (Programme Manager)
Table Stories gives young people the opportunity to create a cast from everyday objects, develop their own plot lines and ‘perform’ them on a miniature stage with a non-human cast. In Autumn 2020, We ran a series of practical workshops to accompany our online presentation of Complete Works: Table Top Shakespeare: At Home.
We worked in partnership with Buzz, ACCT (Asperger’s Children and Carers Together) and Handsworth Grange Community Sports College to deliver activities to young people aged 12 +. We ran workshops with found stories and with core GCSE texts. We also ran 10 Q&As with Theatre students in College and University.
I like how unique it was. I had never done anything like this before
The artists were very encouraging
I don’t usually have much confidence but this helped me improve it
More learning than normal and fun!
Year 10 Participants
I would love to continue working on more projects in the future – watching the students’ blossom under the challenges of excellent external providers always brings a smile to my face, and a well needed boost of self-belief for them. Justin Banks (Head of Creative Arts)
